The Staves, magical symbols of Iceland
All these signs transcribed here, called “Staves”, are found in Icelandic grimoires, some dating from the 17th century, others more recent, although they all seem to be linked. The origin of this particular Icelandic magic is difficult to determine. Some signs appear to originate from medieval mysticism and Renaissance occultism, while others show some connection to runic culture and the ancient Germanic belief of Thor and Odinn.
