The illustration

The wheel of the year is illustrated here around the 8-pointed star, the symbol of Ishtar.

Ishtar, a Sumerian hermaphrodite deity, is a goddess of love, procreation and war, who governs life and death. Daughter of Sin (the moon) in the Akkadian and Babylonian Pantheon, she represents the planet Venus. She is “the Queen of Heaven”.

One of its attributes is therefore the 8-pointed star, closely linked, among other things, to the wheel of the year.

Because as you know, 8 sabbaths are celebrated during the year: 2 equinoxes, 2 solstices and 4 festivals. But its relationship with space makes it an equally special symbol: The cardinal points represented by each branch bring this star closer to a compass rose.

In addition to the harmony represented by the number 8, the star is surrounded by a circle, a symbol of protection...
